Mounts ca. 455 x 600 mm. Late 1850s. Bought by the Library from André Jammes in Paris 1964. Inv.no. 9/64. Actual numbering has been - as most of the descriptions (a few of which has been modified - to match our prints) taken over from the Canadian Center for Architecture in 1982. The former numbering (and order - topographical-alfabetical, according to the system in the Library) is seen in brackets after actual number. The original order and numbering is not known. Traces of older order(s) are, however, visible. In lower right corner of mount (for vertical prints in lower left), there are marks after older numbering (rubbed out). In some prints this numbering seems to be twofold.. When nothing other is indicated tecnique is (takenfor) albumen from paper negative. The quality is, however, variating, perhaps due to different handling of the same process, or to different processes (waxed paper- or gelatine paper-negative). A few might be from glass-plate negatives (as indicated). State of preservation is predominantly good. Most of the mounts show pencil marks on verso indicating size of prints.
