The Danish Cancer Society allocates DKK 6m to research on early action to identify and diagnose cancer when the
chance to survive is the biggest
The Danish Cancer Society wishes to give funding to research and development projects within diagnostic methods that can develop specific innovative methods to early cancer diagnostic using biomarkers and techniques, including floating biopsies, molecular profiles and imaging methods. The methods should be validated to clarify the potential for
implementation in clinical practice.
Background
Cancer is a serious disease, and cancer develops over time. Therefore, the sooner the
cancer disease is identified, the better the prognosis for the individual patient. Thus, with an efficient effort to diagnose cancer early, it can lead to the cure of the highest number of cancer patients possible. Still, it can also lead to as many as possible getting a careful treatment and thereby have a minimum of cancer patients with severe late complications after cancer treatment.
Therefore, early diagnosis of cancer should have high priority and efforts aimed at the types of cancer most commonly diagnosed at a late stage or show a social difference in survival should get special attention. Therefore, the Danish Cancer Society wishes to allocate funding to projects that contribute to early identification of cancer. The Danish Cancer Society wishes to contribute to innovative research and development of potential clinical implementation by the funding of projects where the purposes are to develop and try new diagnostic methods that can reveal cancer at such an early stage that the cancer is curable as well as develop, validate and implement new knowledge of early diagnostic. It could be new diagnostic biomarkers and techniques, including floating biopsies, molecular profiles and imaging methods.

Practical Information
Applicants must meet the requirements defined in the Danish Cancer Society's Ethical Guidelines
An allocation is subject to sufficient available Knæk Cancer 2022 funding. The organisation of the Knæk Cancer campaign is in week 43 in October.
In case of funding, the usual funding and accounting conditions of the Danish Cancer Society apply. The Funding conditions are available at our website - please see below.
