Guidance for application for scholarship

Ordinary conditions

A recommendation from a main supervisor of max. 1 A4 page must be attached.

It is not possible to obtain a scholarship for more than one year.

The scholarship is personal and must be applied for by the student. A Ph.D. student attending a training course and persons with a candidate degree cannot apply for a scholarship.

The grant is DKK 10.000 monthly, i.e. DKK 120.000 annually.

Applications to the Danish Cancer Society Scientific Committee (KBVU):

Deadlines: 15 February, 15 May, 15 August and 15 November, 15:00 hrs.

Information regarding the result of the application assessment will be issued by the end of March, June, September and December respectively.

The following month after the application has been awarded the grant will be available at the earliest

Application deadline 15 February – grant will be available 1 April Application deadline 15 May – grant will be available 1 July

Application deadline 15 August – grant will be available 1 October Application deadline 15 November – grant will be available 1 January

Grants can be applied for by science- and medical students for implementation of a cancer research project (for a period) which will prolong the time of study beyond the stipulated time.

Normally science speciality students must have worked at least 4-6 months on the project prior to the scholarship period (the bachelor - project period does not count).

This is not mandatory for medical students accepted at a pre-graduate research institution.

It is expected that the projects can be finalized within the scholarship period.

The application can be written in either Danish or English as it will be assessed on equal terms.

Applications to the Danish Cancer Society Psychosocial Committee (KBPF):

Deadlines: 1 May and 1 October, 15.00 hrs.

Information regarding the result of the application assessment will be submitted by the end of June and November respectively.

The following month after the reply to the application has been received, the scholarship will be available at the earliest. I.e. if the application is submitted for the deadline 1 May the grant will be available 1 July. If submitted 1 October, the grant will be available 1 December.

Scholarship grants will be awarded students for implementation of a psycho-social cancer research project, which exceeds what can normally be expected from a thesis.

It must be confirmed that the applicant will get qualified guidance at the institution where the project is to be executed, and the place of work must state that they will support the applicant.

Special costs and equipment in connection with the project can be granted if the concerned expenses cannot be covered by the institution, where the project is being conducted.

If the application is granted, a report of approx. 2 A4 pages plus publication list must be submitted two months after the expiration of the scholarship at the latest.

How to use the online and reporting system:

Work on the application can be done in several sessions, until the applicant choses to submit it. Corrections and updates to the application can be made on the page overview (oversigt) and press edit (rediger).

Remember to save every time you have written or made corrections in the application, before leaving the step in question - press save changes (gem ændringer), which can be found both at the top and bottom of each step.

At all times the applicant can follow which mandatory items remain to be filled in at each step, partly by the colour of the square (red/green) (rød/grøn) in the heading, partly by the missing items appearing in red under the step in question in the left margin. All mandatory items must be filled in before submitting the application.

In several of the squares a maximum number of characters (spaces count) are stated. If this is exceeded the application cannot be submitted.
