China: A new program for maximising renewable energy in the Chinese

energy system

China National Renewable Energy Centre has together with the Danish Energy Agency, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation and the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory defined a five-year program to assist the implementation of the Chinese energy revolution. The new program was launched on 16 December 2014 in Beijing.

On December 16 2014 the completion meeting to summarize the Sino-Danish Renewable Energy Development Program (RED) as well as the official launch of the “Boosting RE as part of China’s energy system revolution” was held in Beijing. At the meeting, results and achievements of the RED Program were presented to the audience, showing significant joint efforts done by the Chinese and Danish RE and clean energy sectors through the cooperative five-year program.

A new consolidated partnership, sponsored by the British charity Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), was introduced at the meeting, uniting the expertise of the Danish Energy Agency and the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory with China National Renewable Centre. Representatives from the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration, the Ministry of Commerce, the Danish Energy Agency and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) were present, as well as specially invited guests from RE research institutions and the RE industry. Mr. Zhang Yuqing, Deputy Administrator of the NEA and Director General Morten Bæk for DEA delivered the speeches.
