Language and Communication in Nobel

Why?

Cooperation and synergies between cultural language and business

language creates opportunity to continue offering courses/education in

”small” languages

Opportunity to create more and new electives for students.

Business Communication is still a great part of the bachelor programmes and as the department has moved it is most natural for these educational programmes to move as well.

Moving the educational programmes has in general been planned to secure a close connection between the academic environment and students.

(7)

Quality in Education and Student Environment

Increased political focus on education and quality

Mobility

Flexibility

Internationalisation

Focus on quality

Increased and improved supply of courses

Increased research coverage of teaching

Close connection between students and the academic environment

Student environment

Physical improvements – more space for students

Language in a national perspective

Language as the key to the world!

During spring 2011 a working group discussed language on a national level to give inspiration to creating a strategy for education in foreign languages.

The work finished in June 2011 and concluded through a report 42

recommendations on how to focus on foreign language in the Danish educational system.

(9)

Recommendations for the universities

22. That universities strengthen language education through increased cooperation both internally at the university and across universities

23. That universities in cooperation with relevant employers sharpen the work profiles of educational programmes in cultural language.

24. That Universities – in connection with educating language teachers for high school and other institutions – create a clear teacher profile at relevant master’s programmes.

25. That universities organise language programmes to ensure that the teaching takes place in countries in which the language is spoken for a duration of one or two semesters

26. That universities use the opportunity to demand upon admission that language courses from previous education, have been passed with a certain grade level.

(10)

Recommendations for the universities

27. That an examination of the translation and interpretation area is initiated, including specifically a focus of the future demand for translators and interpreters.

28. That educational programmes at university level gradually include literature in other languages than English, wherever relevant.

29. That educational programmes at university level offer and are open towards teaching in foreign languages to all students

30. That educational programmes at university level continue to strive towards a goal of having as many students as possible to study abroad.

31. That universities in cooperation with relevant employers consider the need for new interdisciplinary educational programmes, in which language is combined with other disciplines outside the traditional faculties of arts.

Once again welcome!
