FUTURE ELLUND SOUTHBOUND CAPACITY
Agreement to offer firm capacity on a ”reasonable endeavor” basis, after Tyra redevelopment Period 1: After Tyra redevelopment and until possible new LNG terminal(s) are operational in Northern Germany:
• Gasunie Deutschland will offer capacity up to 1.5 GWh/h
Period 2: After the possible new LNG terminal(s) are operational:
• Gasunie will allocate entry capacity between the LNG terminal(s) and Ellund in a non-discriminatory way depending on capacity bookings
Energinet and Gasunie Deutschland have signed a ”Letter of Intent” on securing firm

INCREMENTAL CAPACITY PROCESS 2021
The process will begin 1 July 2021
• As in 2019 we will run a broader Danish
incremental process in parallel with the official process for Interconnection Point Ellund
• Material on capacities will be available in April
• Important for users interested in Ellund capacity:
Give your demand indications at the
corresponding incremental capacity process at our German neighboring TSO’s, Gasunie Deutschland and Open Grid Europe.
What are your needs for future capacity?

STATUS OF BALTIC PIPE
CONSTRUCTION WORK PRIMO 2021
Approximately 8,750 pipes for the North Sea have arrived at the harbour in Esbjerg.
Each pipe is 1 meter in diameter and more than 12 metres long.
All in all: 40,000 tons steel and 40,000 tons concrete coating for the 105 kilometres section in the North Sea.
THE NORTH SEA
On the Danish west coast (Houstrup Beach), we have made a horizontal directional drilling of the dunes.
In October 2020, after months of hard work, we

33 sites for storage of gas pipes have been
established in Jutland and on Funen. The laying of the pipeline west of the Great Belt will take place in 2021.
JUTLAND AND FUNEN
ZEALAND
Across Zealand – from Slagelse to Faxe – we are in the process of burying 70
kilometres of gas pipeline.
The pipe is welded together by 12-18 metres pieces. In some places, e.g. under large roads, railways or watercourses, the pipeline is drilled or pressed under.
Work on Zealand is delayed and is
expected to be finished in the summer
In the southeastern part of Zealand, we are building a compressor station.
The purpose of the compressor station is to increase the gas pressure so large volumes of gas can be sent across the Baltic Sea to Poland.

QUESTIONS
Hydrogen Working Group at EEX
Intention, setup and first results
69
Intention for the hydrogen working group at EEX
▪
Develop with stakeholder, interested in hydrogen, a real H2 trading market
▪ Already in an early stage, to avoid undesirable market developments
▪ Negative locked-in effects witch might results in potential market closure (e.g. bilateral long-term supply contracts with 100% coverage as in the past for natural gas)
▪ Usage of public subsidies only for a few industrial player in steel and chemical sectors
▪ Usage of hydrogen only in the steel, chemical or transportation sector, but not for heating
▪
Gather intelligence from the market & industry - collective/swarm intelligence
▪
Link trader community (power, gas, GO) and hydrogen industry to support a market based H2 market ramp-up along the entire hydrogen value chain
▪
Force standardisation in H2 industry to enable European-wide trading
▪ In quality/pureness of H2 – cross border trading!
▪ Price notation of H2 – €/MWh
▪ H2 products (commodities + GO + indices/benchmarks) + H2 trading processes
▪
Support regulator, decision maker and associations with market know-how
▪
Increase transparency for & trust into H2 business for wider public
Current setup of the H2 working group & first results
▪
Kick-off event in November 2020 with ca. 120 participants
▪ Representing 65 companies from 11 countries
▪ General support for quick market development
▪ Strong support for unbundled trading of hydrogen as commodity and GO-H2
▪ Strong support for fast introduction of a market based hydrogen index - HYDRIX
▪ Strong support for fast hydrogen trading in the spot market NL and D.
▪ Strong support for an European solution regarding GO-H2 over national ambitions
▪
More than 40 companies (8 countries) wants to join EEX H2 Working Group
▪ Ad hoc meetings planned, according speed and content of developments
▪ English language (on request: translation into German) via MS Teams
▪ For free, but with the strong intention to push the trading market development
▪ Next meeting on 23/03 to develop the hydrogen index – HYDRIX
▪ Composition of H2WG, results and further info very soon on EEX homepage

A. Non-discriminatory (regulated) third party access to hydrogen infrastructure
▪ Equal treatment of all customers interested in transporting, storing or blending of hydrogen
▪ Ex-ante transparency about costs for usage of infrastructure and ancillary services
▪ Increase of competition through market entry of new market player along the entire value chain (e.g. production, storage, consumption but also trading) will improve market efficiency
B. Uniform and standardised hydrogen quality in the hydrogen infrastructure
C. Establishment of an market operator (MO), who operates physical or virtual hubs (VTP) for hydrogen, e.g. with the following ancillary services based on market prices:
▪ Title Transfer Services/Nomination Services on the hub with price notation in €/MWh
▪ Balancing services to match imbalanced shipper portfolios at market prices
▪ Purity management of pure H2 grids and blending of natural gas grids
D. Mandatory blending of natural gas grid up to a predefined H2 quota by MO
▪ According regulatory predefined H2 quota in %, to kick-off the hydrogen trading market asap E. Option: Mandatory buy of H2-GO for each consumed MWh hydrogen
▪ Could kick-off H2-GO market asap; allows also virtual greenness of gas grids on a first stage F. Merger of H2 cluster into H2 markets with sufficient maturity for trading & competition
▪ Only for H2 cluster, which are today not mature by itself for trading & competition
▪ As fastest as possible, backed by MBI and paid by public subsidies during the ram-up phase G. Recognition of H2-GO for industry according GHG avoidance in RED II
First detected regulatory pillars to launch H2 trading markets
1. Enables price transparency, increase trust from policy makers, regulators and industrial players along the entire value chain - and the general public
2. Support decarbonisation and climate neutrality targets for 2050, based on hydrogen, via market based and tradable instruments/products
3. Act as catalysator and innovator to develop hydrogen from the scratch into wholesale trading markets under involvement of existing/new market players 4. Provide transparent and tradable market prices for H2 as commodity
and H2-GOs and enable trading of hydrogen in a standardised quality
5. Enables the gas industry to use existing gas infrastructure, market proved (access) regulation and market design as backbone for ramp up of EU H2 trading markets
6. Support grid/market operator to offer ancillary services as title transfer, balancing, purity, blending but also merger of H2 cluster via trading products to market prices 7. Enables, based on market price signals in €/MWh, safety for planning and invests
Why do EEX believe in hydrogen trading markets?
